Keeping the Sacred Texts of the Devi Tradition Free to Read

The hymns and scriptures of the Devi tradition reached us because people kept them. They were copied, chanted and passed from teacher to student, often over many generations. Keeping them within reach of today's seekers is quiet work, and it is work some of us care about personally.

Why free matters

Someone looking for a sacred text today usually finds it in pieces: a verse quoted without its source, a translation with no original beside it, or a full edition behind a payment or a sign-up. For a person who simply wants to read a hymn and understand it, each of those is a small barrier, and small barriers are often enough to end the search.

We believe the opposite approach is worth supporting. A sacred text should be faithfully kept, clearly explained and open to anyone who sincerely wants to read it. Money and accounts should not decide who gets to open the page.

A library from Kathmandu

That is why we want to point readers to Tantra Yoga Vidya. Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, it brings the sacred texts and practices of the Devi tradition to sincere seekers everywhere.

Its library of sacred texts of tantra yoga includes the Saundarya Lahari, the Mahānirvāṇa Tantra, the Yoga Vāsiṣṭha and the hymns of the Durgā Saptaśatī chanting sequence. Every text and article is free to read, with no paywall and no account needed.

Reading is where it starts

A library is only part of the path, and Tantra Yoga Vidya is clear about that. Tantra is passed from teacher to student, and practice is learned from a teacher, not from a page. Alongside the texts, those drawn to classical tantra yoga in Kathmandu can ask about classes and courses, group sādhanā and festival practice, and personal guidance.

We like that honesty. The texts are open to all, and nobody is told that reading them is the same as walking the path.

Why we mention it here

Connekverse's everyday work is software for NGOs, for teams managing digital content and for businesses selling online. Tantra Yoga Vidya sits apart from that work, and it is not something we sell.

Some of the people behind Connekverse are practitioners and patrons of this tradition, and supporting it is a personal commitment. We mention it here because it is part of who we are, and because these texts deserve readers. If you have been looking for them, the library is open.
